*******SHOPPING MANUAL****************

Fall brings about a sense of calm and peace. It's always a joy for me to shop for a new season. Fall/Winter tends to be my favorite season for clothing. I love a the rich textures and amazing sweaters.

This season last much longer which mean you need more clothing. As a stylist I always tell people to start with the basics staple pieces. When you do that it gives you a nice foundation to build on, so your not spending crazy amounts of money. Once you have your STAPLES you can begin adding in other dynamics. Like splashes of colors and rich textures and great accessories.

Here's a few example a staple items you can start with. A nice quality pair of black dress pants from Banana Repulic are just amazing to have, a classic white botton up shirt, a nice fitted blazer, of course a nice pair of your favorite jeans, an amazing leather jacket, a fly trench coat, a pencil skirt, your basic color shoes or boots.

The basic foundation of dressing is to build a nice foundation first. And with key staple garments helps a lot. Once you have that you will find that you have more to clothing to wear and you spend way less money.

RIP Micheal Jackson

It is very hard to believe that Micheal Jackson is gone. It just seems like some people will live forever. It truly seems like great man die suddenly. The same thing happened to my dad. I think God does it that we way to let you know he was ready for that person to return home. The thing is MJ was not scared to reach deep in his soul to deliver a message through a song or a concert or a video. He lived his life for him and not what people thought. I think when you have the ability to live inside out you are truly blessed.

His legacy will live forever and ever. The ability to change the world. The ability to be known in every country and in every language came about because he wasn't scared to be a LEADER. Being that powerful is a gift and a curse because people fear it but have the energy to try to stop it.

He leave behind a wealth of music that my great great grand children will listen too. And the famous one glove, the leather jacket and the penny loafers. Which to this day is still wore. Kayne did it Chris Brown did it a trademark from the early 80's that's still hard to duplicate.

I want to be more like MJ touch lives of everyone I touch. He was truly amazing and a God sent and will be missed. RIP mj

What does it mean to be HATED ON

You know I hear this so much the it is almost the new one line clique. People love to say someone is HATING on me. We all say this at least 10 times a day. But the question becomes is people really hating on you or is it something else. Lets explore...if everytime you turn around someone is hating on you then lets look at you. Ok so sometimes a person at a distance could be hating on you but if people close to you in your immediate circle is hating on you then there's an issue with you. We have to responsible for who enters our space. There's a free test you can use. God gave it to use all its called DECERNMENT. Basically if something doesn't fill right than it aint right. Why wait until something happens to remove ourselves from a situation. If people close to you are not what you need them to be then remove yourself from that space. Don't surrond yourself with people who aren't for you. Fill your space with people who love you care abot you and happy for you.
Now that will not eliminate all the Haters but a least that will remove them from your immediate space.
Think about it.

A BETTER LIFE

I read something today that Rev Run wrote and it read "we all know what to do to have a better life".....wow profound but the thing is we do the complete opposite. We try short cuts to acheive everything. Like they say we live in a microwave era. But the thing is, everything has been written to give us a better life. People get paid millions of dollars to write "the right way to live". Exercise three times a week, don't smoke, drink 8 glasses of water, eat vegatables, and a laundry list of options. But if I line 8 people up not one will follow "THE LAWS OF A BETTER LIFE" and the funny thing is each time we break the law we indeed shave years off our lives. We also begin to live in this stressful downward spiral. A life of health problems, anxiety, sleeping disorders and God knows what else but if we would just sit down and write out a least 5 things we could do to make our lives better we would be amazed. It reminds me of a seeing it is easy to do the wrong thing but hard to do the right thing.
I challenge everyone including myself to make a list of a least 5 to 8 things that we can do to have a better life and do it for a week and see how much peace we will have.

SELF EXPRESSION?????

What is it? How do I get it? Self expression is something everyone can acheive. It comes in many ways. People can express their selves through many outlets. One is writing another is music and of course my favorite clothing/dressing.
You can express who you are and what you stand for through your choice of style.
Lets take rapper/actor Andre 3000 I totally love him and love how he has an non- tradional and unexpected since of style.
That's his way of expression he will not conform to the norm or the expected. And does it with out saying a word just by his clothing choice.
style is a good we to be free and do as you please green hair, orange hair, it doesn't matter it is your choice and that's the beauty of it. To me Baltimore is one of the most stylist cities the people here dress and express themselves how the feel not what's in magazines or the typical trend.
The thing is everyone is free to express themselves how they chose and with clothing you are to create your own since of style and define what type of character you want to be you can let everyone know what your are saying without saying a word.
So next time you get dress feel free to EXPRESS YOURSELF

Here's what will be hot for Spring 09. Believe it or not Spring is the biggest shopping season. Between weddings, graduation, and proms it is a time to make lots of money as well. So let's look at the list of what will be hot for Spring 09

• Bright colored blazer with aggressive shoulders; think the 90's on this one.
• Prints will be huge especially animal prints; my opinion animal prints are timeless.
• Sequins,sequins and more sequins on everything from shoes to swim wear
  
• Jumpsuit will be everywhere and in every variation.
• Harem pants not sure how I feel about this one but the right body type can pull it
• Bar Graph Stripes

• Bold Patterns; with this one keep in mind your body type patterns will not work on every body type

SPRING

SPRING IS HERE AND ALL THOUGH THE TEMP ARE NOT REFLECTING IT, ONE OF MY FAVORITE RULES I TELL PEOPLE DO NOT WAIT UNTIL IT IS 75 DEGREES TO SPRING SHOP START NOW. THIS WAY ONCE IT'S NOCE OUT YOU ALREADY HAVE YOUR PIECES AND YOU CAN JUST ENJOY YOUR DAY OPPOSE TO SHOPPING AT THE LAST MINUTE. JUST SOME FOOD FOR THOUGH OR SHOULD I SAY SAY

FASHION INFLUENCES part 1

On of my most favorite fashion films was SCARFACE everyone loves this movie but for diffeerent reasons. I truly loved the fashhion in the movie, especially the dress Michelle Phiefer had on, when she and Tony was dancing at the club. I love vintage and that dress in my opinion was timeless. Back then fabrics were heavy and patterns had substance. Sidebar take Phyllis Hyman her album cover with the blue background she had on an all head beading kimono. When I google the top it was all hand done and extremely heavy. Today clothes are mass produced and nothing has love in it. Every designer except the high end ones ie Chanel, Valetino, Calvin Klein Collection so on in so forth mass produce their garments and it takes away from the craftmanship of the piece. And then you have what I call the fast food store like Forever 21 that just makes everyone forget the true meaning of fashion. So the moral of this Blog is a good classic garment you will have a lifetime

QUICK FIX

OK IT HAS BEEN A LONG NIGHT AND YOU HAVE A BIG MORNING, MAYBE A MEETING OR PRESENTATION. A REAL QUICK TRICK THAT WILL LEAVE YOU LOOKING FRESHER THAN EVER.
GO TO THE FRIDGE GET AN EGG AND A CUCUMBER TAKE THE EGG WHITES FROM EGG AND SLICE TWO CUCUMBER SLICES. APPLY THE EGG WHITES AS A MASK PLACE ONE OF EACH CUCUMBER OVER EACH EYE. LET SIT FOR 5 MINUTES.
RINSE THAN MOISTURIZE AS NORMAL YOU SKIN WILL BE TOTALLY FRESH AND TIGHT AND PUFFINESS AROUND EYES WILL BE HISTORY.
WHENEVER I AM EXHAUSTED THIS WORKS LIKE A CHARM

A GREAT FASHION TIP FOR THE DAY. AS THE WEATHER BEGINS TO CHANGE, WE BEGIN TO TRANSITION OUR WARDROBE. FROM BOOTS TO SANDALS, COATS TO LIGHT JACKETS. THE BEST WE TO DO THIS AND MINIMIZE CLUTTER IS TOTES. AS YOU SEE YOURSELF TRANSITIONING AND NEEDING WINTER GARMENTS LESS START PUTTING AWAY THE WINTER STUFF DAILY. THAT WAY ONCE THE WEATHER STABILIZES TO WARM TEMPS YOU CAN JUST ENJOY SPRING AND ALL OF THE WINTER CLOTHES HAVE BEEN PACKED AWAY.
